Is it a rose? Or isn't it... This fully double bloom of rich red is borne on a unique perennial known as Geum or commonly as Avens. 'Blazing Sunset' is a remarkable cultivar that sports blooms of rich red hues and exceptional sizes. If not paying close enough attention, they do resemble their cousin the rose. This geum blooms over a long period in late spring and into summer. The mid-green foliage is attractive if soil is kept moist when plants are out of bloom Easy to grow and never needs dividing.

Fertilizer: If using compost apply an 1" at planting time and side dress annually in late fall or early spring. It is only recommended to use liquid fertilizers when the growth is slow, and this is not normally needed.
