Genovese sweet basil is the standard Italian variety of basil used for spicing up sauces, pastas, and as the main ingredient in traditional pesto.  This annual plant sets an abundance of leaves that can be harvested frequently throughout the summer months.  The plants are slow to bolt, quick growing, and high yielding.
