Fragaria vesca 'Golden Alexandria' Plants
Fragaria vesca 'Golden Alexandria' Plants
The chartreuse foliage of this alpine strawberry makes a very nice accent for the partial shaded garden (in south) to full sun garden (in north). Medium sized edible fruits are borne heavy in spring (after first year establishment) and sporadically there after until fall. The foliage is herbaceous and dies back after the first hard freeze; in southern areas of the hardiness range these plants maybe evergreen. The ground hugging effect and tight cover make it a superb plant for the front of the border or for planting long drifts. Since, this strawberry is runner-less it is great in containers or remains tidy in the garden border. Compliments plants with purple foliage.
