Eupatorium 'Chocolate' is one pretty sweet looking plant. What is not to like? The deep purple leaves create a thick bush that is ornamental by itself and then in fall the white umbels burst open and smother the plants. The deep foliage to light bloom color contrast is very eye catching. The blooms are loved by bees and butterflies and the plant blooms when other nectar sources are winding down for the year. After blooming the seed heads turn an amber color and the foliage turns bright yellow before dying back to the roots for the winter. A US Native.
