Caryopteris 'Blue Empire'

Caryopteris 'Blue Empire' has larger blue blooms than most other cultivars of the bluemist shrub.  The somewhat dwarf habit, powdery blue foliage, and long flowering heads make this a knockout shrub for the mixed border as well as a formal garden setting.  A butterfly magnet and long blooming season are a two more merits for this cool new bluemist shrub.

Fertilizer: Apply compost or an all-purpose granular fertilizer around plants in early spring.
Water:  Monitor new plants for adequate moisture.  Water in deep and allow the top to dry between applications.  Once plants are established (after about a year) only supplement water when in drought situations.
Additional care:  Trim to 6" in late winter/early spring before growth begins.
