Collection: Hens & Chicks (Sempervivum spp.)
These unique succulents are mound forming with a "mother hen"(larger plant) in the center that has "little chicks" attached by above ground runners(connective plant tissue). The "hen" eventually will burst out with cheery star shaped flowers and the die leaving the chicks to repeat the process for countless years. This unique picture of motherhood coupled with unique foliage, drought tolerance, and extreme cold hardiness(to zone 3) make these an easy choice for rock gardens, walk-way edging, containers, and tucking into little cracks and crevices.
