The Silene genus is comprised of 500 species of annuals, biennials, and perennials.  Their habitats range from open
meadows and woodlands to mountainous areas in the Northern Hemisphere, with the majority being located around the
mediterranean areas.

Parent Species of Plants We Offer:
Silene lacinata or Royal Catchfly is a perennial silene that reaches heights up to sixteen inches with a spread of
twenty-four inches.  The scarlet flowers are produced on loose panicles throughout the summer.  This species is native
to California, and Mexico.

Growing Tips
Plant in well-drained soil that has been slightly enriched with organic matter.  A pH range of 6.0 - 7.0 is sufficient for
catchflies.  Also, great in containers, rock gardens, and a neat front of border plant.
