Dianthus Growing Tips
|
|
- Plant in a well-drained soil that is within a pH of 6.5 - 8.0.
- Planting location should be in full sun.
- Enrich soils light in organic matter with compost or like additive.
- Use dolomitic lime to raise the pH of acidic soils
- Mulch plants if desired.
- In containers use a balance loam or add sand to store bought mixes for better drainage.
- Place plant in ground at the same level as it was in its pot, planting too deep can lead to
crown rot and eventual death of the plant.
- Trim plants back after blooming halts to encourage a later set of blooms.
- Fertilize in fall with compost or granular fertilizer.
