Bare Root Perennial Plants
|
|
Most of our perennial plants are seed grown and started in either plug flats or sown in drills(as pictured on right). Our bare root plants are transplanted into plug trays before setting out into larger pots, or growing beds.

Our bare root perennial plants are shipped as one or two year old root systems(dependent on species). The plants growing in large pots are normally freshly dug. Where as, the plants thriving in growing beds are dug in late fall, when dormant, are packed in moist sawdust, and stored at 34 degrees.

Lastly, the plants are secured within the shipping box with recycled peanuts(picture on right). These peanuts are 100% recycled material and are waterproof. Peanuts fill the void in between objects constricting the amount of movement within the box, allowing the plants to be in prime condition upon arrival.
In a 6' upside down drop the peanuts kept the plants in the exact same position and condition, as they were originally packed. While, mail carriers are not that harsh on packages, we decided to go the extra mile to insure plants are in top condition upon arrival.
