VIOLA(Violet)
Genus containing around 500 species of annuals, biennials, and perennials.  The characteristic
leaves are entire to finely pinnatisect are normally mid-green in color, and give way to the
upward facing 5-petaled flowers.  A native to temperate regions worldwide.

GROWING TIPS
Plant in a well-drained soil that has been enriched with organic matter, and at a pH range of
6.0-7.0.  Violas become very showy when planted in straight compost, and giving partial
sunlight.  Fertilize annually with a compost ring around the plants or biannually with an all
purpose granular fertilizer.
