Parent Species of Plants We Offer:
Potentilla nepalensis
- A loose clumping perennial with 5-palmate leaves up to 4" long that are mid-green in color.  The 1" flowers
are borne on loose cymes and are saucer-shaped and normally dark crimson in color.  Growing up to 3' tall and spreading 24".  Native
to the West Himalayas, and hardy to 5-8.
Potentilla (Cinquefoil)
Genus containing over 500 species of shrubs, herbaceous perennials, annuals, and a few
biennials.  Found growing in the northern hemisphere in meadows and mountain screes.  They
have pinnate or 3-7 palmate leaves, which maybe wrinkled or deeply veined.  The flowers are
5-petaled, saucer or cup shaped, but occasionally are star shaped.  Ranging in colors of yellow,
white, orange, pink, or red, the flowers are the main focus of the potentilla plant.  Our
potentilla plant offerings are top performing perennials that bring bloom power and ornate
foliage to the garden border.
Potentilla Growing Tips
  • Plant in a well-drained soil that has been enriched with organic matter or already has an
    adequate amount of organic matter.
  • Add compost to the planting hole to feed a growing plant and to encourage an even soil
    moisture.
  • Before planting make sure the pH of your soil is within a 5.5-7.0 for optimum growth
    and flowering.
  • Potentilla plants enjoy full sun, but will tolerate partial shade.
  • If planting in containers make sure to add sand to the planting medium to aid in drainage.
