| Genus of approximately 250 species of perennials, and annuals. Grows in a variety of habitats from soggy bottoms to dry highlands, in non-tropical parts of the Northern Hemisphere. Nepeta is a diverse plant that has many leaf and flower forms, as well as, aromatic scents and attractants. Parent Species of Plants We Offer: Nepeta transcaucasica - A tall catmint from Caucasus, and Northern Turkey. Two-lipped flowers of pale blue are borne in axillary whorls throughout the summer months. Up to 42" tall and spreading 12" wide. Hardy to zones 3-9. Growing Tips Plant in a well-draining soil that has been slightly enriched with organic matter at a pH range of 6.0 - 7.5. These plants require no fertilizer and love hot weather. The key to good growth is providing an evenly well-drained soil that has a nice mineral content. In heavy soils it is best to mix in sand to gain better drainage. Very easy plants to cultivate. |
