Parent Species of Plants We Offer: Geranium pratense is a clump forming herbaceous perennial that bears saucer shaped flowers to 1 3/4 across. These plant can reach heights up to 36" and spread over 24" wide. Grown for the striped, streaked, and bi-colored blooms of different color combinations. Plants are originally from temperate regions of Europe, Central Asia, and Western China. Growing Tips Plant in a well-drained area in full sun to partial shade. Geraniums do not tolerate wet-feet, especially in the winter months. Slightly enrich the soil with organic matter before planting to encourage a more even soil moisture. Spreading compost around the base of the plant, making sure not to cover the crown, in fall provides fertilizer for the upcoming season. To encourage a long bloom season pluck old flowering stems, and fertilize with an all purpose fertilizer in early summer or bi-annually if not composted in fall. |
