| Genus of 80-100 species of annuals and perennials that occupy prairies and woodland settings throughout North and Central America. Coreopsis plants produce opposite leaves, which are either simple or pinnate, with a few being palmate in shape. The flowers are daisy or star shaped and come in colors of pink and yellow. Blooming over a long season and attracting many pollinating insects. Parent Species of Plants We Offer: Coreopsis grandiflora - Clump-forming perennial with lance-shaped or palmate lower leaves to 4" long. Flowering stems produce up to 3 to 5 pinnate leaves with linear leaflets, and give way to solitary flowerheads up to 2.5" across. A native of Central and Southeastern U.S., and hardy to zones 4-9. Coreopsis rosea - Clump-forming perennial with palmate green leaves up to 2" long. Producing pink flowerheads from early summer to autumn and are up to 1" across. Growing up to 24" tall and spreading 12" this perennial is a native to the Eastern U.S.. GROWING TIPS Plant in an organic based well-drained soil with a pH range of 6.0 - 7.5. An application of mulch helps retain moisture in the soil, and also supplies nutrients as it decomposes. Deadhead plants to prolong flowering. |
